Just for anyone who is interested: my mom got in safe and sound yesterday afternoon into the Surat airport. She is currently writing in the beautiful journal (!) Jan and Dan gave her, on our balcony.
Her flights were both smooth although her flight from Tokyo to Bangkok was two hours late so she didn't get into Bangkok until around 3am. The gentleman from her hostel was there waiting for her though, as promised, with a huge "Jill Berube" sign.
Her Thai is improving rapidly!! And her waiing. Today we're exploring Surat (Justin and I took the day off); hopefully including some massages and maybe facials. Tonight we're going out to Kampan (our favorite restaurant in town) with the doctor and other English teachers.
OH! And this morning we opened the bday presents from Jess, as they instructed us to on the box. We got ping pong paddles with our names on them!! They're super awesome!! They also came with exciting colored balls (!) and a Chuck Palahniuk book!! We went right down and used them [I beat Justin 11 to 2:) ]And a bday card partly written in Thai! Impressive.
So Thanks Jess!! And Colleen Staff for making the paddles (?) and her card and candy!
Thanks for voting on our poll and all the lovely comments!!
