First the good news! Claire made it here safe and sounds with no troubles at all! Hooray! It's been really fun having her here and showing her around. She's getting along with everyone really well and Jason is already impressed with her.
Now for the rest.
1. Right before Claire came Justin and I both got colds and I lost my voice for a couple of days.
2. The day after Claire got here (Wednesday) our house flooded. The whole story is that the plumbers were rerouting the pipes because there is a leak somewhere in the house. They had worked for the whole day on Wednesday. We asked P'Lek if it was alright to use the water still and she said yes. So we turned it on to take a shower. 10 minutes later there is 2 inches of water in our hallway and bedroom.
3. We already bought night train tickets to Bangkok for Sunday night to get in Monday. Then we had all Monday in Bangkok before we fly out Tuesday 3am. Then we get the news about the Thai Immigration's New Policy.
The old policy is that you cancel your work permit and have a week to leave the country. Seems logical right? Right.
The NEW policy is that you have to cancel your work permit (in the town where you work during business hours) and then leave the country THE SAME DAY! What???
Sooooo . . . now we are selling our Sunday night train tickets to Jason and taking a bus. We were going to take a train on Monday except that the trains stop running every now and then because of protests.
Monday morning at 8am we are going to be waiting outside of the immigration office with our luggage in Jason's car. They open at 8:30. We have until 10:30 to finish the paper work. P'Lek thinks that we will "hopefully" finish by then. If we don't I'm not sure how we'll catch our flight in Bangkok.
Yeah. I feel a little bit frustrated.
4. The Thai government is still ridiculous. Here's some news on it.
Note of interest about Thailand:
Thai people pick their noises in public, but cover their mouths when they use a toothpick.

Hey guys! What a bummer about all the immigration. Just wanted to send a quick note that if you guys are feeling lonely for good old Carbondale, you might want to check out the wdbx website. You can stream their shows live over the internet (through iTunes). I just thought that it might be a little comforting to be able to hear people from the 'dale as often as you like! I don't know if you guys already knew about this, but I thought about it the other day. Anyway, their website is just wdbx.org then you click "listen" and it automatically downloads to iTunes and starts playing! Pretty cool. Maybe that will help you guys get through this last little bit. Well, I miss you guys and good luck with getting out safe and sound! Can't wait to see you again :) Love, jess!
