Whew! A lot has happened since I wrote last. I don't have the money right now to get it all done at this internet cafe but I'm going to try and briefly give some highlights.
We are currently in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Jan and Dan left us on the 23rd, it was a sad farewell, but we will be seeing everyone in less than 7 weeks!! Woo Hoo!!
I'll back track to the trip with them. We spent the two weeks biking from Bled to Ljubljana and then hanging out in Piran on the coast. Highlights (to name a few):
Since leaving Jan and Dan we spent one LONG day and night on the Alpine trail before giving up and taking an overnight bus to Croatia. It's quite a long story (8 or more pages in my journal)- but again I will try to sum it up.
Everything started smoothly except the whole time we were following 3 different trail markers. Eventually the three split off and we followed the blue one which turned out to not be the right one. We ended up accidentally climbing a small mountain and getting a bit lost. When we did find the red trail markers again it was dark enough that we needed our head lamps. We were in a valley and we couldnt find signs for the towns we were trying to get to. There was also an insane amount of wind that made the whole things very very eerie. We decided to just keep going, hand in hand, and hope for the best. We figured we would keep walking in the dark till we couldnt and then find a camp spot.
Right at that point we came across a wooden bridge, then a picnic table- all good signs. Around the bend we found lights, cars, and the mountain hut we had been looking for!!! However the mountain huts don't have beds in October so we ended up in a cute little Sobe (like an English bed and breakfast without the breakfast. Basically a small room with a shared bathroom usually in someone's house) owned by an older woman who spoke to me constantly in Italian.
We had accidentally hiked 13 miles and up and down an extra 1,000 feet. We decided it wasn't worth getting lost more and not having places to sleep so we took a bus back to Trieste and from there got an overnight bus to Dubrovnik.
In Dubrovnik we found a sweet apartment with a kitchen and washing machine for the same price as the youth hostel. We plan to stay here for 4 nights and then do a couple more days on an island maybe. Around Nov 1 or 2 we want to try to fly to Barcelona to get ready for the Camino!! Hopefully it goes more smoothly than the Alpine trail!
We miss everyone! Thanks for the last comments! Emails are great too (alezaberube@gmail.com and justinsitarz@gmail.com). Jan and Dan hope you had a safe flight home.
Love to all!

I'll back track to the trip with them. We spent the two weeks biking from Bled to Ljubljana and then hanging out in Piran on the coast. Highlights (to name a few):
- playing nightly games of Canasta (Jan and I won the tournament!! And props to Jessica for teaching Jan and Dan that game)
- biking on small cobblestone streets in medieval villages
- eating fresh homemade cheese on a tourist farm; biking in nearly freezing rain while wearing an emergency poncho and a Virgin Islands Sun Visor- I looked pretty awesome
- learning numbers in Slovenian
- staying in beautiful apartments each night for next to nothing
- Biking around Lake Bled
- Gorges outside of Lake Bled
- Biking downhill after going straight up into the Alps accidently
- Drinking Laskos
