I'm still following your progress intently. Funny thing is I am also reading the Gitlitz and Davidson Santiago cultural handbook, a little bit every night, and find my timing is reading about the same villages and towns pretty much as you are passing through them.

I am actively researching my packing list for my planned Santiago walk next fall, so found your list helpful. Thanks for putting it on your blog. I have also been on the Alcorn's Backpack 45 website almost daily to follow their recommendations for gear.

I can't believe Justin is still wearing flip-flops in that cold weather. How are the cut up socks working? Good luck on completing your walk.

Following your blog for gleanings about winter pilgrimage, and quite surprised to see our backpack45 site mentioned. Our gearlist is constantly evolving, and one item currently in question is rain gear. Right now we use rain jacket and pants plus pack cover, but have been considering switching to ponchos, since pack gets wet despite cover. Are you satisfied with your ponchos?

Sept - Oct 09 from Sjpp to Fisterre, weather will probably be wetter without snow. With departure from Canada Sept 7th, the reality is looming. Thanks for sharing. Meegwetch
