It was noisy in the morning. The Spaniards are apparently unaware of "inside voices". Cell phone alarm at (maybe?) 4 in the morning. Talking, crinkly bags of things, laughing. Jerks
Justin is grumpy in the morning. I was half asleep for a full night which adds up to half a night. Sick too. We went to a cafe and let everyone pass us on the trail. Flat and wide and easy through Logronos forever, then a lake, then vineyards. Vineyards are kinda ugly up close, but very nice from a distance. Autumn colors on the leaves.
Lunch in Navarrette. A large jar of cold lentils (lentejas!) with salt and tabasco on ham (jamon!) flavored chips. MMMMM! Aleza loved it, too. We had planned to stop, but we ate so many chips and lentils we decided we could use the extra walking and we went another 15K more (that is about ..... some sort of distance in miles. Our cell phone is dead and we can no longer convert to metric). Lots of miles so far, and we are still really good at walking.
Albergue is good, and our volunteer host looks not only a little bit, but exactly like a c. 1991 era Johnny Depp (think Edward Scissorhands minus the scissors on the hands).
Also, you may have noticed but I cannot find the apostrophe key on this board, so no contractions today!
There is a dude from Salem, Illinois here who hurt his foot and stayed in this place for three days and is now OK so we will walk tomorrow along with him perhaps. Also this fella from N.C. too.
We made a large community dinner (32 personas!) and I helped! Also we bought food before hand and had an awkward problem working out whether we had to chip in for dinner or just contribute food. I guess Aleza worked that out.
I skipped out on the freaking hour long group reflection time and hung out with David and the friendly Danish/Israeli woman. Aleza went and is stupid, but I respect her.
Note from Aleza: Thanks for all the help with the Alburgues!! We have one 20 km away lined up for tomorrow in Santo DomingOOOOO!!!!
Buen Camino to me, Buen Camino to Aleza. Sorry to our new readers for the apparent sudden drop in blog quality!
Hugs and Kisses: Justin

justin and aleza....dad and i are just in from a long, crazy day of tail-gating at the saluki game and then going up to the cellar to watch/hear the game. siu won !!! we are now home, and are going to watch "dan in real life" which we have already seen, but i can watch again. jess, julia, mary and her boyfriend, vince, are in chicago this weekend. jess and julia are probably staying with stephen brackett - he has a GREAT condo on the lake which he gets a super low rental on because it's on the market and needs to be "show ready" at all times. jess is really excited to (maybe) be staying there. stephen has a job building sets for the blue man group and i think is really happy right now. today, dad and i took the pontoon out of the lake, and it's now at stereo one getting the radio fixed. summer is over - boo hoo. we've just made a pot of chili and i've already had 2 bowls. we met jill and paul at newell house for dinner last night and just had the best time....absolutely great food, and terrific catching up - gave them most of the pics that had aleza in them and talked and talked about or trip...probably bored them to tears. anyway...a really good evening. the leaves are falling like crazy, and we're raking and mowing today and tomorrow. just read that jon is now in chicago....glad he's back in the states. saw rose and dan finnegan yesterday at pinch penny. aidan went into burma and then back into thailand, so to extend his visa. won't fly back til later in november. saw chris norrington just now at schnucks and told him of the xmas party...he entered the date in his cell phone. we miss you and are SOOOO envious of you for this great adventure you 2 are having. take care and we love you...mom and dad
