Hola!!
Sorry this is late but the hostel in Santo Domingo didn´t have internet so I´ll play catch up.
Yesterday - Sunday- we had a shorter, very pleasant walk. The scenery has turned softer with more corn and wheat fields and LOADS of tractors (many driving through the tiny cobblestone streets in the towns). The weather was lovely as well with clear skies and about 60.
The adventure Sunday was what to eat because all the grocery stores are closed. We had a jar of lentils, salami, chorizo, some veggies, and mustard. For a snack we had salami slices with lentils and mustard inside wrapped into little burritos. Very bizzare.
We got into town early around 2:30. It was getting a bit chilly (it always feels colder in the towns because of the tall buildings and stone everywhere). The hostel we stayed at is the oldest on the camino- built in 1044 I believe. It was very very cold with no heat anywhere and stone flooring.
We made a late lunch in the kitchen with more random things we found, our second half of the lentils with a soup mix we had, some couscous we found and the end of the chorizo. It was REALLY yummy. And for dinner Justin made pasta he found at the hostel cooked with his last carrot and onion and some tabasco. That wasn´t my favorite, but still interesting.
We sat around and talked with our new friends in the evening and went to a bar for a bit. We both slept well despite the cold. This hostel didn´t have bunk beds and it had little dividers between groups of beds so it was much quieter.
Thanks again for all the advice and help!! Besos!
